Laser Cutting Project: PreLim Update

Initially this project started with me wanting to make a pencil holder emulating Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Falling Water' house. Since then though I have decided to make a scale model of a foot stool. It is a cube, with rounded corners, with the center cut out in a layered contoured fashion.

Right now the plan is to make several layers of wood left to right and then glue them together. But I really just want to get in the lab and see what makes sense for thickness of each layer as well as material. Overall size I am planning to run with is 6" square.

Below was just an exploration on turning the contoured center shape from layer to layer. The plan is to paint the edge of each inside portion and create and sweeping design on the inside that would double as storage.
